As Wollongong’s accredited trainers, All Onsite Training & Assessment ensures that you’re been fully trained to undertake Heavy Vehicle work, in order for you to obtain Heavy Vehicle licences. Over many years, we have trained local and nationwide students who now have Heavy Vehicle Licences.

All training from All Onsite Training & Assessment for Heavy Vehicle Licences is carried out onsite to meet your exact licencing requirements.

We do licences from Light Ridgid (LR) all the way up to Multi Combination (MC).

Light Rigid (LR)

A light rigid, or class LR licence covers a rigid vehicle with a GVM of more than 4.5 tonnes, but not more than 8 tonnes. Any towed trailer must not weigh more than 9 tonnes GVM. Also includes vehicles with a GVM up to 8 tonnes, which carry more than 12 adults including the driver and vehicles in Class C.

Minimum requirements:

  • Applicants must be at least 19 years old
  • Applicants must have held an Australian car licence for at least 12 months. This does not include a learner driver licence.

    Medium Rigid (MR)

    A medium rigid, or class MR Licence covers a rigid vehicle with 2 axles and a GVM of more than 8 tonnes. Any towed trailer must not weigh more than 9 tonnes GVM. Also includes vehicles in class LR.

    Minimum requirements:

    • Applicants must be at least 19 years of age.
    • Applicants must have held an Australian car licence for at least 12 months. This does not include a learner driver licence.

      Heavy Combination (HC)

      A heavy combination, or class HC licence covers heavy combination vehicles like a prime mover towing a semi-trailer, or rigid vehicles towing a trailer with a GVM of more than 9 tonnes. Also includes vehicles in class HR.

      Minimum requirements:

      • Applicants must be the holder of a current NSW MR or HR truck licence and have held that licence for a minimum of one year.
      • Applicants must complete the Roads and Maritime Services HC Knowledge Test and obtain a Competency Based Assessment Learners Logbook and Guidebook from the RMS.
      • Study the CBA guidebook before starting the course.

        For all classes of licence training undertaken with All Onsite Training & Assessment, you will be required to follow the following steps to obtain your heavy vehicle licences:

        • Study for the class of licence you wish to obtain.
        • Pass the knowledge test at the RMS.
        • For your LR, MR, HR and HC licence you should obtain the competency based assessment books from the RMS.
        • Contact us here at All Onsite Training and Assessment to make a booking.
        • Once you have been deemed competent, return to the RMS to have your photo licence processed.

        Heavy Rigid (HR)

        A heavy rigid, or class HR licence covers a rigid vehicle with 3 or more axles and a GVM of more than 8 tonnes. Any towed trailer must not weigh more than 9 tonnes GVM. Also includes articulated buses and vehicles in class MR.

        Minimum requirements:

        • Applicants must hold a green provisional licence.
        • Applicants must have held an Australian car licence for at least 2 years. This does not include a learner driver licence.

          Multi Combination (MC)

          A multiple combination, or class MC (B- Double or Road Train) licence covers multiple combination vehicles like a prime mover towing an A and B semi-trailer, or rigid vehicles towing multiple trailers.

          Minimum requirements:

          • Applicants must be the holder of a current HR truck licence and have held that licence for a minimum of one year or
          • Applicants must hold a HC licence
          • Applicants must pass a medical examination.
          • Applicants holding a HR class licence are required to pass a HC class assessment before undertaking MC training.
          • Applicants must complete the Roads and Maritime Services MC Knowledge Test and obtain a Competency Based Assessment Learners Logbook and Guidebook from the RMS.
          • Study the CBA guidebook before starting the course.
